Quito & The Galapagos Islands

Spend 10 Days Hiking, Kayaking, & Snorkeling Across The Galapagos Islands

Ecuador is all about history, fascinating indigenous cultures, slow winding rivers and lush tropical forests, spectacular snowcapped volcanoes, and some of the most exciting wildlife on earth. On this 10-day, privately-guided journey we’ll focus on historic Quito and the unique wildlife and surreal landscapes of the Galapagos Islands.

Galapagos is a natural paradise, the site of the largest number of active volcanoes on the planet and the first whale sanctuary in the world. On the archipelago it is possible to see the animals up close, swim with turtles and sea lions or sunbathe with iguanas. The combination of fish, mammals and reptiles makes the Galapagos one of the most unique and fascinating experiences in the world.

Your journey begins in Quito, with its impressive colonial center and the reason Quito was the first city to be named a World Heritage Site. You’ll walk through the main plaza for a glimpse of daily life in Quito and admire the ornate colonial buildings. Next you're off to the Galapagos Islands where you’ll explore three of the islands by boat, hiking, snorkeling, and kayaking. Wildlife on the Galapagos is prolific, and you’ll see many species found nowhere else on earth, including marine iguanas, giant tortoises, Darwin’s finches, penguins, and fur seals. On Santa Cruz Island you’ll search for giant tortoises, paddle board along the Itabaca Channel, and visit some nearby uninhabited islands. You’ll then be transferred by boat to Floreana Island. Here you’ll hike in the highlands, kayak with fur seals, and snorkel with penguins. Your last stop will be on Isabela Island to visit the tortoise breeding program, enjoy more snorkeling and kayaking, and hike to the summit of Sierra Negra volcano.
