The Culture & Wildlife of Tanzania
A 9-day Exploration of Tanzania's Diverse Cultures & Wildlife
On this private 9-day journey across northern Tanzania, you'll experience diverse cultures and stunning wildlife in spectacular settings. Your accommodation will be in small luxury lodges and tented camps, located in Tanzania's remote wilderness areas.
Your adventure begins in the baobab studded plains of Tarangire National Park where you'll search for elephants in the forests and grasslands. Continue on to the remote alkaline Lake Eyasi where you'll spend a day engaged with the local Hadzabe and Datoga people. The Hadzabe have occupied this area for thousands of years and speak a unique "click" language (similar to the San Bushmen of southern Africa). Join them on a morning hunt or bush walk then visit a Datoga homestead to see how these pastoral people live and watch their blacksmith skills as they create jewelry and arrow tips.
You'll visit the Ngorongoro Crater, an enormous caldera filled with wildlife before flying to the northern region of the Serengeti National Park. Arguably the world's most famous park, the Serengeti is famous for vast, open plains and the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebras. Spend your days searching the park for lions, elephants, cheetah, hundreds of different birds.
Finally, your journey ends with a flight back to Arusha where you'll visit the Shanga, a collection of artist workshop that supports disabled Tanzanians. Watch the artists create beadwork and jewelry before your transfer to the airport for your departing flight.
