Authentic Tanzania Safari

A 14-day Exploration of Tanzania's Diverse Cultures & Wildlife

Authentic Tanzania Safari

This safari has been rescheduled to March 15-28, 2022

WE HAVE 1 SEAT AVAILABLE

Consider this your invitation to the safari of a lifetime!  Please join me, the owner of GrassTracks Safaris, for a privately guided 14-day safari to Tanzania.  I have spent extensive time in the African bush and will be your leader of this remarkable Tanzania safari where I have partnered with exceptional Tanzanian wildlife biologist guides to deliver an in-depth safari experience.

This safari has been custom designed to provide an epic and exclusive Tanzania safari experience during the end of the calving season, when the Great Migration herds' irruptive birthing over a 3-4 week period in February to mid March results it the Serengeti plains teeming with animals in amazing quantities, and results in very active predators. The safari is focused on having an authentic wildlife experience in the remote bush of northern Tanzania.  Your guides will share their in-depth knowledge of African wildlife with plenty of time to view the fascinating behavior of animals.   Your private guide, Deo Magoye, has years of experience in Tanzania including guiding for National Geographic and BBC film crews.  While in the Serengeti you’ll join Sosy Maira, Njozi Camp’s staff wildlife biologist, to participate in a Citizen Science project assisting Sosy in identifying individual prides of lions, cheetahs, and leopards.

Contact me soon to reserve your seat.

Asante sana!

Dan Hopkins

Your safari begins with a visit beautiful Tarangire National Park known for elephants and baobab trees, and Manyara Ranch Conservancy where you have the freedom to go on guided walks and night drives.  Next you venture to the iconic Ngorongoro Crater, an ancient collapsed caldera rich with diverse wildlife.

The primary focus of your safari is to explore the game rich Serengeti ecosystem, covering the Southern/Ndutu and Central regions. The Serengeti is likely the most famous wildlife area in the world and rightly so. With private guides/vehicles and total daily flexibility, you are optimizing your chances for best wildlife viewing from resident species to the seasonal flow of migrating herds. The migration of over 2 million large grazing animals (wildebeest, zebra and gazelle) and large populations of big cats are present in the Ndutu region, and your visit to the less crowded Central region during this time of year will provide exclusive wildlife viewing.  Beyond the famous animals, there is a full diversity of species and guests typically see between 30 and 40 different species of mammals along with a stunning array of birds.

While in the Serengeti, we'll join Sosy Maira, a Tanzanian wildlife biologist to participate in a Citizen Science project assisting Sosy with his data collection on individual lions, leopards, and cheetahs.  Sosy spends lots of time researching the Serengeti's big cats and this is a unique opportunity to spend time with a scientist learning about the ecology, natural history, and threats facing the cats of the Serengeti.

Your safari ends with a scenic flight from the Serengeti and over Tanzania's volcanic highlands back to Arusha for your onward flights.
