From my first camping safari to Africa in 1983 to through today I have developed a fascination and love of traveling Africa. I first traveled to Africa in 1983 with Charles Darwin’s great-grandson, Quentin Keynes. Since then I’ve taken seven extensive camping trips through South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi. In the summer of 2001 two friends joined John and I on a seven week trip where we drove a Land Rover through Kenya and Tanzania on down to Tzaneen, South Africa

Africa has given me some of the best times of my life. The continent is fascinating, vast, and beautiful. I've been lucky enough to travel beyond Africa as well. I've traveled solo in Peru, Bolivia, and Chile, hiked in Patagonia; drank mate in Argentina; climbed pyramids in Belize and Guatemala; swam with whale sharks in Mexico, and slept under the Saharan stars in Egypt. But it was back to southern Africa in June 2008 when I organized and led nine clients on a two week camping trip through South Africa where we visited the Drakensberg Mountains, the Indian Ocean, and Kruger National Park.  I was in Botswana in August 2009 and 2010 for more GrassTrack's mobile camping safarsi.  We visited Victoria Falls and camped in the wilds of Chobe, Moremi, and the Okavango Delta.

After having planned a number o independent trips to Africa, I wanted to introduce others to this spectacular continent.  I beliewv the safaris we offer provide clients with the best opportunities to see magnificent wildlife and experience the beauty of the African bush.  Each trip is expertly guides and organized.  Therefore, our clients can have the experience of African travel without the headache and worry of organizing it yourself.

I've also been fortunate to have lived all over the US. I completed my Bachelors degree in zoology at the Univeristy of Montana in Missoula, then headed north and worked as a biologist on fishing vessels in the Bering Sea, Alaska. From there it was back south to Colorado where I completed a Masters degree in zoology. In addition to exploring the Rockies, I led natural history trips for the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. After working in a research lab in Denver, I headed back home to New England and finished a Masters degree in biochemistry at Dartmouth. I currently work as a research biologist for Merck, Inc in Lebanon, NH. In my spare time I lead birding trips for the local Audubon chapter, fly-fish, hike, ski, remodel my house, and practice my photography skills on a home-made large format camera.
